We recently published new research examining the use of Fixed Income ETFs by institutional investors. Our analysis found that the increasing acceptance of ETFs as an institutional (rather than retail) investment tool coupled with challenged bond market liquidity have driven a major uptick in usage of fixed income ETFs by investment managers in the US. These findings catalyzed a great conversation on Bloomberg TV where we discussed the perceived risks of fixed income ETFs, their use as a credit derivatives substitute and what all of this ultimately means for our retirement accounts.
