This report provides detailed information from Japanese institutional investors on key trends in the asset management industry.
MethodologyThis research is based on personal interviews conducted from June through November 2023 with 244 of the largest corporate pension funds, public pension funds, financial institutions, and Endowments & Foundations in Japan. Total fund assets were ¥699 trillion. In seek of wider coverage of asset owners in terms of Voice of Clients, the interviews were directed to corporate pension funds, irrespective of asset size, all over Japan and the former 7 imperial universities as endowment funds.
Senior fund professionals were asked to provide quantitative and qualitative evaluations of their investment managers, qualitative assessments of those managers soliciting their business, and detailed information on important market trends.
